Midway along that transit we reached Kejimkujik National Park.  Stretching along the Mersey River Valley, the refuge offers a fine network of trails, leading through forest, out to beautiful lakes lakes and past a variety of geologic formations; it is also a popular destination for canoe trips and kayaking.
